Declaring JW's a cult to co-workers
by OnTheWayOut ini am in a unique work situation which i won't describe because i am a fader.. let's just say that it's like vegas.
what happens (or is said) at work stays at work.. we are a fairly tight bunch.
some of my closest co-workers know my situation.

Need LOGICAL PRESENTATION that FDS is BS- talk w/2 elders wanting to help
by AWAKE&WATCHING inmy best friend showed up where i work to see what's going on with me.
i haven't called her since she told an elder at my hall that i was falling out of the truth, little does she know i've fallen and i don't want to get up.. i told her i had now done my research and i absolutely don't believe it.
she said she didn't want to hear my apostate stuff.

Please read if you commented on topic re:FDS/BS- meeting elders-BACKGROUND
by AWAKE&WATCHING inmy situation is a little different than most.the only family i have in the borg are my in-laws who don't care much for me any way.
while my husband has studied off and on for years and is currently attending most meetings, he has never felt "ready" to get baptized.. i was in the truth (gag) for 10 years, went through a bad divorce from an unbeliever and disassociated myself , i was depressed, worn out and felt guilty for not being able to keep up with the "do more" bs.
i still believed and blamed myself.

Sounds like you pretty much know where you're at and are prepared for the whatever the outcome may be.
The upside to be disfellowshipping is definitely total freedom of speech and actions - no need to worry anymore about offending anyone or your 'secret life' being revealed.
Go for it if that is what you want.
All the best, can't wait to hear what happens next.... -

((((freetothink))))) Thinking of you sweetie.
Why don't you read Steve Hassans book on cults if you haven't already? He gives great advice on helping people out/stay away from cults along the lines of -
Ask her what her life was like pre-studying and how she imagines her life will be once she's a fully paid up member.
Try to get her to see that her life and her children's will be very restricted once she's made the commitment. Also, perhaps highlight what would happen if ever her kids got baptised and then were disfellowshipped - how would she cope? How does she feel about depriving the kids of birthdays and Christmas and putting them in a position of feeling totally alone and left out during all of their school years when you most want to feel part of the 'gang'. Go for the emotional, lifestyle stuff, not the doctrine.
Keep us posted.

My heart goes out to you and your daughter - it's impossible to know exactly what you're going through - but every time I think of how it must feel to lose your child/grandchild, I can't breathe. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Hugs.

A&W - That is very brave talk.
It's good that you're so determined and are prepared to stick up for the real 'truth'.
However, from personal experience, I said practically the same thing but wasn't at all prepared for the reality of where this leads. Are you really ready to face all your friends and family wanting nothing to do with you from immediate effect, branding you an evil rebellious person?
It is not pleasant to say the least.
With any planned action you have to ask yourself what is the prize?
I doubt anything you say to these elders will make a difference to them personally - they need to individually be in a position where they have doubts themselves and go to the internet to find the answers, or to be some in sort of a tragic situation/mental condition. All it will do is result in stress and upset for you, believe me, been there, done that!
You can help more people if you fade away. Don't meet with these elders and keep a low profile for a while. This will be difficult as you probably want to tell the world what you've discovered. Review the situation in 6 months please. I wish I had done this so that when the initial intense emotions had faded I could have acted more effectively.
If you want to talk by phone - just pm me. -

London Bethel Fax No?
by sweet pea inbesty survived the jc last night - more details to follow in due course - he wants to fax a letter to the legal department at bethel but having phoned them from the train this morning, they are being cagey about giving out the number and the 'operative' at the end of the phone wouldn't identify himself either - i think this organisation and its minions think they are in the same league as mi5, the cia, the fbi etc.
lol .
can anyone give us the cult fax number please?

Crumps - just goes to show you never know what's going to prompt these lurkers to come out of the woodwork - perhaps we all ought to be asking more innocuous questions....
